Formation and Meteorological History

Cyclonic Storm Fengal originated as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal northeast of Sri Lanka on November 23, 2024. The system gradually intensified, moving along the eastern and northeastern coast of Sri Lanka. On November 29, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) upgraded it to a cyclonic storm, naming it "Fengal" (pronounced FEINJAL).
